Dear Parents / Guardians: Welcome to the Paul P. Gates M.D. Elementary School located at 75 Spruce Street in Acton, MA. We provide a caring environment for students which promotes self-esteem and life-long learning. We encourage active student, teacher, and parent involvement which contributes to a strong school community. In addition to the Acton Public School Curriculum, we offer a Nature Program to our primary grade students and Gates Amazing Program, an enrichment / activity program for K-6 students. Through cooperation, friendliness, and respectful relationships among members of our school community, we feel we provide an educational setting that allows each student to reach his/her full potential. As you visit Gates web site, we hope you will learn more about our school. We also hope that any questions you may have had will now be answered. Walter McGrail, Principal Principal in the Classroom allows Mr. McGrail to visit each classroom at a specified grade level several times during the school year. During his visits, Mr. McGrail may assist in curriculum areas, work with an individual student or small group, offer support to students in reading or writing groups, etc. As a special treat, teachers of students in grades K-3 may opt to ask Mr. McGrail to read to their class in his office during their scheduled week. This program provides opportunity for students to see our principal in a totally different manner.
